Honors Lit-Hist. 9 The Mayan calendar was used by many of the major civilizations belonging to Mesoamerica. Though there were many other variations, the Mayan Calendar was the basis of it all. Not only did this calendar lead other civilizations' own, but it also led the ancient Mayans through their daily lives due to the fact that time is measured my the sun's movements and that the Mayans had a fierce reverence for the sun. |

Though the calendar did not originate within the Mayan civilization, it was refined and modified by these people to become the most accurate of its time. Even today, it still is used among modern Mayans.
Regardless of its origins and age, the Mayan calendar is truly a dominant leader of the calendars of many other civilizations, including most of the Western World. Echoes still surface of the complexities and accuracies it holds. The calendar's legacy has indeed surpassed the test of time, and will continue to do so long into the future.
